Tree Tops and Squirrel Lodge are beautifully situated with stunning views over the Forest of Dean. Surrounded by wildlife, you will see an abundance of birds, including many birds of prey soaring above you, whilst relaxing in the hot tub. 

For walkers, a wealth of woodland walks guiding you through the forest, are right on your doorstep. You may catch a glimpse of the deer, bunnies, squirrels and even the wild boar! If you’re very lucky, you may even catch sight of The Gruffalo if you venture to  Beechenhurst, just 5 miles away! The lodges are an absolute haven for fun seekers with one of the UK’s best cycle trails and downhill mountain bike courses, along with abseiling, caving and canoeing or paddleboarding on the River Wye.  

Just 2 miles away, you can find the spectacular Clearwell Caves, providing 4500 years of history hidden below ground. A fun filled family favourite, is Perrygrove Railway and Tree Top Adventure, or you can explore the enchanted Puzzlewood, where scenes from Harry Potter, Dr Who and Star Wars (to name but a few) were filmed.  

The lodges are perfectly situated with 3 country pubs, serving a wide variety of delicious and traditional dishes, all within a mile.  The Market Town of Coleford, just under 2 miles away, has its imposing central Clock Tower and Georgian facades, offering lots of shopping opportunities providing local produce and unique gifts.  It’s also home to lots of annual events including a weekend long Music Festival, Faddle Fairs, Festival of Transport and many more!  

Oakwood Vale Lodges are equipped with private hot tubs, spacious open plan living, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, underfloor heating, with Wifi and Netflix and your furry friends all included in the price. A perfect weekend getaway in the forest with beautiful views from the decking and lots of time spent relaxing in the hot tub. The lodge was very clean and well looked after and the added extras of a couple of Easter eggs was a lovely treat. We enjoyed the nearby sculpture trail and a gorgeous sunny day at Symmonds Yat. Squirrel Lodge was tidy and homey with everything as advertised and we have a great stay for friend’s birthday weekend. Clearly a well kept property Plenty of wildlife to see and great view from outside on the deck/ while relaxing in the hot tub helped by the clear dry weather. Lovely and quiet and pretty walk into the forest next to the lodges. Also had great day out and boat trip in Symonds Yat  East 20 min drive away and dinner at the Miners Sling which we walked to. Would stay again.

Wow what a great place. We had the most amazing weekend staying at squirrel lodge. Beds comfy, equipped with everything you need. Great footpath into the forest right outside the property. Fantastic outdoor space with hot tub and views over the valley

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage with an amazing view. We loved watching the birds in the morning and sitting in the hot tub to watch the sun go down. Loads to do in the area. Would definitely recommend!

Just back from a 4 night stay at Tree Tops Lodge and we had a great time The lodge was fab, great location we had some lovely walks with the dogs in the forest It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing, the kids loved the hot tub! Kelly was great with communicating with us prior to our stay and really friendly when meeting her during our stay (whilst cleaning the other lodge) I would definitely recommend a stay here and would love to come back for another visit in the future

Lodge was perfect …. the deck/hot tub look out over the treetops (hence the name I guess!) so loads of birds. Very peaceful, perfect for a break from life. Shower water pressure amazing! Good Wi-Fi. Nice walk straight into the forest.
